With the Asia-Pacific area being the most at risk from climate change, it is an ideal place to develop innovative circular economy solutions.
Only ten rivers, eight in Asia and the Pacific, account for 90% of all river-borne plastic in the ocean. It is projected that Asia will be responsible for 40% of world consumption by 2040.
The world's resource needs are expected to be 1.75 times as great in 2022 as the planet's ecosystems can renew. Every year, we generate about 2 billion tonnes of solid garbage, and almost all of the resources we harvest and utilize are discarded.
The initiative's overarching goal is to assist fledgling businesses in reestablishing a healthy connection with material resources and addressing problems associated with circularity.
The accelerator provides ten weeks of online training, with Google engineers and other professionals providing technical support and mentoring via a combination of one-on-one and group sessions.
Each participant will also be given access to an in-house success manager who can provide company-specific assistance.
Starting in February 2023, this programme will accept applications from October 4 through November 14.
